An open beta for the upcoming Naruto MMORPG entitled Ultimate Naruto is now available.
As a big Naruto fan this somehow flew under my radar, but there’s a Naruto MMORPG in development. It’s called Ultimate Naruto and its open beta just started.
You can play the game right now by signing up here, and to celebrate the launch, you’ll be able to earn in-game gold and silver if Ultimate Naruto’s Facebook page reaches 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 likes.
According to the press release, the game’s beta includes access to the “full suite of Ultimate Naruto’s features“ including the Ninja School class system.
In the game, you’ll be able to attend three different schools that will either teach you Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Secret Jutsu. Focusing on the first one means you’ll be better at ninja techniques, while the second one will make you more proficient at hand-to-hand combat. Meanwhile, the latter, interesting enough, will let you own an immortal body.
Now if my Naruto knowledge is up to snuff, I believe immortality techniques in the Naruto universe are considered to be Forbidden Jutsu, which are banned from being taught or used. Furthermore, one of the only ways to defeat an immortal is with a sealing technique.
Anyway, in Ultimate Naruto you’ll be able to play as male or female with gender-specific traits; males are geared towards combat strength, while females are able to learn secret techniques better.
You’ll also be able to play as familiar Naruto characters and experience storylines from the anime. You’ll even be able to raise a tailed beast!
It all sounds great, but upon looking at the gameplay footage below, it appears Ultimate Naruto isn’t as awesome as it sounds. Instead of being a 3D action game like the Naruto console titles, Ultimate Naruto seems to be a 2.5D free-to-play browser-based game. That’s turn-based.
It’s disappointing for sure, but at least the game has good animations and actually looks like the anime.
