Not an official announcement, but BeefJack learned from Headup Games today that they do believe The Inner World has commercial potential on the Wii U eShop.
In speaking with Neko Entertainment yesterday on their publishing endeavours, a small discussion arose on whether or not The Inner World would be a good fit for the Wii U eShop. (Neko Entertainment is collaborating with Headup Games on the project to assist with digital distribution on an international scale.) “Perfect” was the word used, actually, but I was told the decision rests with their partners.
BeefJack followed-up with Headup Games for their take on the matter, and this morning they expressed similar comments as Neko Entertainment on whether or not The Inner World could make its way to the platform in the future. “You’re right, Inner World would be a great fit for Nintendo’s Wii U,” a representative said, adding, “it even would look good in a boxed version there.”
I’m told that the team is still hard at work on the iOS version, so if any decision is made, it won’t be until after this gets shipped. Still, they are open to the idea and are considering the possibility of bringing The Inner World, not only to Wii U eShop, but elsewhere in the console space. “We are evaluating further platforms at the moment and then [we'll] decide whether to port The Inner World to a console or not.”
Merge Games separately announced today that a Collector’s Edition of the game is being prepped for release at select retailers on September 27th, and includes such bonuses as a soundtrack, sticker, artcard and digital encyclopedia.
