Namco Bandai Games’ and From Software’s hardcore RPG Dark Souls II now has an official release date and a brand new trailer to reveal it.
Earlier this month we learned that a Dark Souls II open beta was coming in October and now Namco Bandai Games has revealed that Dark Souls II is going to be released on March 11th in NA and March 14th in Europe. However, this is only for the console version of the game. The PC version of the game, despite previous claims, will be released “shortly thereafter” the console releases according to Polygon.
It had always been heavily rumored that Dark Souls II would be out in March, so this isn’t a huge announcement, but it is nice to have it locked down. This announcement came alongside a new trailer that shows what Dark Souls is all about, persistence, perseverance and patience in the face of terrible enemies that can end you just as quickly as you can kill them. Like the first Dark Souls, this impressively challenging action RPG is all about exploring alien worlds full of monsters, dragons and massive bosses that are often only conquered with knowledge, not strength.
I’m going to do some prying to see if Namco Bandai Games will get a little more specific on the PC release date, especially since they originally said that version is equally important to the console versions after it sold over 300,000 copies.
