Zooey Deschanel was a huge The Legend of Zelda fan

On last night’s episode of Conan, TV and movie actress Zooey Deschanel talked about how “obsessed” she was with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past when she was younger.

A lot of people love The Legend of Zelda. Even celebrities like Robin Williams loved it to the point that he named his daughter Zelda. Now another famous celebrity, TV and movie actress Zooey Deschanel, has professed her love for one particular game in the action-adventure series.

On last night’s episode of Conan, the New Girl star said that when she was younger she was “exclusively obsessed with the game Zelda [crowd applauses] for Super Nintendo, the greatest game ever made.”

Likely referring to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Deschanel said the game was “pure magic” and that she spent so many hours playing it that she gave her SNES away to break the addiction.

How brave! We probably shouldn’t tell her about A Link to the Past’s upcoming remake/sequel then!

“My mom would say I had like an hour or something to play and then when she would come and told me, I would be like ‘Noo, I’m about to get to the Dark World!’”, continued Deschanel, who gets kudos points for mentioning the Dark World.

Nowadays, it seems like the actress still has love for Zelda since one of her rescue puppies that she adopted earlier this year is named Zelda.

In other related news, Deschanel added that she was never into “fighting game[s],” but liked “story games.” And while she doesn’t really play games anymore, she does own a “couple of game systems.”

The Zelda portion of the interview can be seen in the below off-screen footage that someone uploaded, but according to an email from Team Coco, an official video will be available here at 5:30 a.m. EST. [Update: The official clip of the Zelda portion of the interview is now live and can be seen here.]
