After years of licensed games, such as Ducktales Remastered, Wayforward wants to return to its original IP, Shantae, and is asking for your help on Kickstarter.
Wayforward, the team behind BloodRayne: Betrayal, Ducktales Remastered and Double Dragon Neon have launched their own Kickstarter, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. A platformer featuring a half human half genie belly dancing heroine with a devastating hair flick, some Kickass animation, and a soundtrack that sounds like an Eastern European Eurovision entry. Which is awesome by the way.
Shantae has appeared on iOS and Nintendo DS and 3DS before, this is Wayforward’s attempt at bringing the belly-dancing heroine to a wider audience, with Xboxs One and 360, PS’ 3 & 4, Wii U and Steam all planned. It will actually be the fourth game in the series so if you fancy giving Shantae a try before pledging you’ve got a fair bit of choice already.
Wayforward are looking for $400,000 to make the core game, and the first stretch goal of $500,000 adds a second character to play her own campaign – I get the feeling it’s really replay the game with a different storyline and moves. They have a few more planned and in the first day have managed to raise $96,559 which isn’t too shabby. If it sounds like your thing head on over to Kickstarter.
