Sony adds a Kickstarter title to the Vita’s growing indie catalogue with Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse.
I don’t know whether to start this post from the Sony angle or the Kickstarter one. Both are pretty awesome. So let’s provide some context. Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse is the fifth instalment in the adventure game franchise. It’s also the one that was kickstarted to give Revolution Software full control and not have any pesky publishers forcing 3D on them like the last two games. It is also the first Kickstarter project to be picked up by Sony to put on the Vita, as part of their big indie push at the minute.
To go along with this news, Revolution have also debuted the first gameplay trailer with pre-Alpha footage. As a massive fan of the series it certainly looks very Broken Sword-y, and return to the style that made 1 and 2 so good. Even if the animation is a little stilted at the moment.
Originally set for September, and the most Kickstarter backers have been told is “within a few weeks” of that. Things still look solid for that sort of time frame with this new announcement as they still have it down for this year, though that’s a fair bit of wiggle room. The Serpent’s Curse will also be available on iOS, PC, Mac, Android and Linux.
