A game mod created by fans and approved by Blizzard for a Starcraft-related MMO has just launched on Kickstarter.

The Blizzard-approval game mod, an MMO version of Starcraft to be played via Battle.net, has just launched on Kickstarter. It’s asking for $80,000 to create a game that focuses “on telling an epic story and intense combat action, as well as multi-player raiding experiences.”

The game also is proposed to feature: “a unique story line by Ryan Winzen which plays out in an alternate StarCraft Universe.”

When it comes to gaming Kickstarters, $80k seems to be unbearably tame in the day of companies looking for a couple of million to fund their titles. There are stretch goals up to $1 million, with the $80k looking to find the open beta release. With $11,000 already raised, it’s looking likely that they may very well make their goal.
