The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will emphasise Geralt’s personal story over politics

With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt rounding off the trilogy, Geralt’s personal story will take precedence over the political nature of the game world that dominated The Witcher 2′s storyline.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn’t too far removed from Mass Effect 3. They’re both endings to epic RPG trilogies that play out a large-scale war that has been teased from the first game onwards. Despite the war aspect, CD Projekt RED want to use this opportunity to close off Geralt’s personal story arc.

“We wanted to boost the feeling that you are the Witcher. Geralt is a middle-aged man who’s in trouble, not a young kid looking for adventure,” lead writer Marcin Blacha tells OXM.

That means his various sexual escapades will also be taking a back seat. “I don’t think he’s going to be nearly as adventurous sexually,” senior writer Borys Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz adds.

He also mentions how he wants a fitting conclusion to Geralt’s story, who’ll be focused more on what’s “important to him in his tumultuous, grimy, morally-questionable life.” With multiple endings and epilogues confirmed, it looks like it’ll be a case of finding the least miserable one.
