Free as a bird, it’s the next best thing to be! Freebird Games tells a tale of a boy and his love for his bird in A Bird Story.
And so it appears that yesterday’s To The Moon 2 teaser image was in fact a satirical swipe at our modern popular gaming culture, and not what Freebird Games director Kan Gao had in store for his latest venture. Had us fooled, right? Perhaps not, but it has been revealed that To The Moon’s successor will not be a numbered sequel, but in fact a prequel set in the same universe, years prior to the original.
The real draw of A Bird Story is that it is described by Kan Goa as “narrative driven, with little-to-no dialogue”, and thus will be interesting to see how he captures the emotive character development his earlier work has become renowned for.
Set for release in March 2013, Kan Gao explained: “A Bird Story is a simple, surreal short about a boy and a bird with a broken wing. Despite being story-based like most of my games, there are essentially no dialogues throughout.
“While Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene – the protagonists of To The Moon – aren’t in this game (chronologically, it takes place before their time), the boy in it eventually grows up to become their patient in “episode 2″ of the series.”
Not too much has been revealed so far, however this news will definitely excite fans of the original. Check out BeefJack’s Mathew Lee’s To The Moon review.
