The first piece of downloadable content for Dead Space 3 is set for release in a month.
Last week EA teased that some disturbing DLC was on it’s way for Dead Space 3, and it appears they weren’t talking about the 11 DLC packs already available for the game. Those are disturbing in a different way.
EA officially announced the first story-based expansion for Dead Space 3 on Tuesday. Titled “Awakened,” the expansion will have players “experience the franchise’s darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before.” I’m not sure what’s being awakened (or who is doing the awakening), but hopefully it will be scarier than the full game. I’ve been enjoying my time with it, but it has definitely been less frightening than the previous games in the franchise.
For a story-based add-on there’s not much information available. Will we be reprising our role as Isaac, or is it as an expansion more akin to Dead Space 2′s Severed? Will co-op be emphasized or is it a single player affair? Is it part of the main game or is it more modular? Keep an eye out for more information on Dead Space 3: Awakened here on BeefJack as we get closer to release.
