Because of the way that current gen consoles work, Disney Infinity is going to be loaded with a years worth of Disney, which potentially includes characters from films that haven’t even been announced yet.
So a some news about Disney Infinity has been slowly trickling out, and there are some interesting tidbits floating about. It has been confirmed by Videogamer that Disney are looking at an annual release schedule for the Infinity series. Rest assured though, all your figures will be able to work with all your games, thanks to a title update that makes the series both backward and forward compatible.
In order to stick to this yearly release schedule however, Disney will need to pack the disc with content, some of which will not have been officially announced when the game is released. Infinity’s executive producer John Vignocchi explained to Videogamer that he had explained the potential for hacking and leaks to the film makers before their product is showcased to the public.
“There’s absolute potential that people are going to see characters prior to their PR campaigns kicking off if someone does that, but we’re hoping that isn’t something that is widespread reported because then people are going to start looking for it, and it’s going to ruin the magic for the consumer.” He said.
Vignocchi added that as console technology advances the necessity of having the data on the disc will decrease.
