News: Where will Lara Croft go adventuring after next year’s Tomb Raider reboot? According to art director Brian Horton, no one’s quite sure yet – because the developers are on a journey of self-discovery along with Ms. Croft herself.

What does the future hold for Lara Croft after next year’s Tomb Raider reboot? The new game sees us take the role of a younger, more vulnerable Lara on a journey of self-discovery – but surely the developers have an idea of where they want to take the series next?

Well, according to art director Brian Horton, that’s not the case – because it’s as much a journey of discovery for the team as it is for Lara herself.

“I think what this game is teaching us is – we’re on this mission of self-discovery with Lara and we’re trying to figure out where Lara’s going,” he told BeefJack.

“We feel really good about where we’re taking her in this story, but, you know, we’re really excited about what the future might hold for her. It’s not written yet, though! So, it’s something we’re discovering as we go.”

He added that the team hopes to “build upon what we’ve done in this game,” but stressed that the story of this new Lara hasn’t been planned yet. “The main goal here is just to do the best possible Tomb Raider game we can at this stage,” Horton explained, “and if people like it then we’ll hopefully get to do more of them.”
